Eddie Bauer was just any other ordinary guy; he was a loving father, a devoted husband, and an optimistic businessman. He was an innovator, an outdoorsman.
He was born on the 19th day of October 1899 in San Juan Islands in Washington. He was a typical fisherman and at the same time, he does errands at a sporting goods shop named Piper & Taft. Sometimes, people can see him displaying his catches right at the entrance of the sporting shop. He then developed a reputation of being a devoted fisherman. His name was then made known from sports enthusiasts in Seattle.
In 1920, from his outdoor life, he opened Eddie Bauer’s Sport Shop in Seattle Washington. By 1934, he created, then patented the world renowned Bauer Shuttlecock that has remained in demand until this time. The first goose down jacket, “Skyliner” popular in North America made its way in the year 1936 that was patented 1940. By 1942, his production of garments and practical sleeping bags to support the war effort began. During that time, his products were the sole private labels that appeared on gears that were government-issued. Sad to say, he got emotionally and financially unstable, results from his commitment and support of the war in year 1949. He transferred all his stocks to a good friend and hunting partner, Mr. William Nieme.
In 1953, he was given percent of shares of the company. In 1968, Eddie Bauer together with his son sold the company’s interest to Mr. William Niemi, Sr and his son William Niemi Jr. after selling, he kept himself busy fishing, hunting, and bird shooting. He also created and patented B&B Flasher.
Finally, at age 86, Eddie Bauer died April 18, 1986.
Presently, Eddie Bauer’s legacy has continued to soar high. His company continues to lead the industry with innovative products and quality designs. With their effort to keep their clients satisfied, the company puts forward premium-quality products with excellent customer service.
